Thanks for sharing, I had no idea! That's the tough thing with charities--knowing which one does its job best! Hmm.

The Canadian government is one place I would NOT put my money if I wanted it to go towards helping Haiti. Its method of "helping" Haiti over the years has clearly failed. For example, the ridiculous interest on loans, investing in weapons when Haitians need food and health care, letting Canadian buisnesses guide the steps the Canadian gov takes there...I could go on. Organizatoins like Partners in Health are better because the money goes directly toward Haitians and what they need -no strings attatched.
Just something I feel strongly about!!

What complete nonsense. Stop for a moment and compare this to illegal drugs. Does the fact that you cant just pop into a shop and buy them, make them less attractive? Noooo. In fact, if you make it illegal, it increases the wanting of some groups. A complete ban would just create a black market. You can grow tobacco in your back garden in many climbates!
Has the indoor smoking ban, created less young smokers? Again no... the kids see all the happy smokers standing outside having fun, instead of them hiding away in a smoky bar. MORE kids are smoking in the UK, as a result of the smoking bans, in my experience. Then there is high taxation as a weapon... again creating a huge black market! Governments may kid themselves that they are beating smoking, because sales are falling, but they are failing to recognise the "grey" imports. I do not know one person who buys their supply through legal channels! This will take hundreds of years to eradicate, not twenty or thirty. But of course, your local politician will deny it......

Hmmm it's such a sticky subject. If no one were hooked on smoking right now, it would seem like a great idea to simply get rid of it and avoid anyone else getting hooked on it. However, it's not like that! There is the question of liberty and rights.

While smoking is still around, it at least helps when a smoker is respectful about it. I appreciate when someone goes out of their way to ensure they don't smoke around you or smell like it. Many of us have heard about the harm of second-hand smoke and truly appreciate not incurring health risks from someone else's [bad] habit. I thank the polite smokers! :)

To the man who throws his cigarette butt on the ground before getting on the bus each morning, we so don't appreciate that! There is a school at that intersection and kids play around there! Not to mention the smoking smell you can't escape on the bus :S

I didn't realize how creepy this is until I read your post. I doubt I would ever opt for the body scan. It really doesn't seem necessary.

I'm happy to hear about this! When I hear/meet people who travel to aid other countries, I think about how great that is. "While it’s really great to donate money from home, it’s a totally different experience to go to another country and see the fruits of your labor." So true!
